OVERIJSSEL

In autumn 2024 the Region of Overijssel (Provincie Overijssel) and The Lab of Thought launched Living Lab Overijssel, a learning process for which 9 municipalities across the region had submitted different cases. Most of the cases were mobility related, but some had more of a social dimension. 

On the basis of The Lab of Thought’s proven methodology, street experiments have been co-created with the different municipalities and - where possible - with local residents and/or businesses. Each of these experiments aims to: 

• Change the conversation about the specific problem and/or the way public space is used in the municipality (different narrative)

• Invite local residents and business owners to experience public space in a different way

The Living Lab itself has several goals:

• Shared learning: Familiarising the municipalities with a new methodology and a new way to approach mobility and public space challenges

• Sowing the seeds for new narratives in Overijssel: through the experiments, news ways of speaking about public space and mobility will be created in the region
